about
There are two songs named "Samba Triste" that I know of. One is by Baden Powell and the other is a beauty recorded by Ana de Hollanda sister of Chico Buarque. As an homage to Brazilian saudade, this samba was written to cheer up a friend.
lyrics
Maybe if I sing you a samba
sing for you soft and clear
Maybe if I sing for you gently
gently so you will hear
And if my samba's not a sad song
You won't disappear
And when you hear my song
Maybe you'll sing along
and I'll hear your voice in the ocean breeze
Dancing to my samba feliz
Maybe when you listen to my samba
In your heart you'll know
It doesn't have to be a sad song
If you let it go
And all the sweetness you'll remember
When the cold winds blow
You will feel my love
And know I'm thinking of
when we were under the coco trees
Dancing to my samba feliz
Looking out on the Arabian sea
As far from Rio as we can be
All I really want to do Is
dance one more samba with you
And when you hear my song
Maybe you'll sing along and
I'll hear your voice in the ocean breeze
dancing to my samba
dancing to my samba
dancing to my samba feliz
Lalalala lalalala lalalala lalalala
